To Steve Syx the guitar spoke to
him like no one or anything he imagined, with
sounds soothing his soul. His soul was captured
and his mind stimulated. First love was born between
the boy, music and his guitar.
Instant gratification, auspicious hopes, thriving
need for attention, insecure and outgoing.
These are the qualities that pushed the young
artist in the direction of his past generations.
Waking up in the new millennium his physique was
pushed beyond the human limits. Churning the wheels
of progress with hopes and dreams like everyone
else. Denying himself the connection to his spirit
for the working will of society.
Like so many before him, working hard, blood sweat
and tears in a delusion of grandeur created by
the world. The changing of the century brought
a change in spirit for Steve Syx. Spending many
years in the trenches of the music business, mostly
local and under the radar of anyone that matters.
Syx pursued an amazing variety of jobs in the
entertainment industry, Associate Producer for
a Cable access show, Manager and performer in
numerous bands. Of course all local and didn’t
amount to squat, anyhow.
Starting in the late 90’s he set forth on
a mission, creating a showcase for solo acoustic
performers in Austin. From 99-2003, he managed;
booked, performed, sound engineered, and promoted
his own choices of songwriters in the round. Served
a short run on the ASG board of directors, stage-managed
a few “Breast Fest” (breast cancer
awareness benefits) at Antones in Austin Texas.
Basically Syx stayed busy keeping his face in
the mix of the local scene. Performing the past
two years in the central Texas area the stage
has groomed this young man into an entertainer.
In 2003 he made a choice to work on his music
career once again. Starting in 2004 he built a
band once again. Hitting the studio he produced
the current CD in circulation “Finding MySelf
HERE’ it was released in 2005. Equally dynamic
in the acoustic singer-songwriter setting and
in the electric arena, Syx never fails to win
over the hearts of his audience, young and mature.
Steve emanates strong vibes, with his quick wit,
easy smile and approachability. Passionate and
determined, his inner strength is apparent in
the songs he writes. He lives his life through
his music, offering up songs about one man’s
journey that we can all relate to our own lives
in one way or another.
Writing songs on a daily basis these past two
years brought his true style and spirit to the
surface. His voice had finally reached his soul
in writing, arranging and producing.
After much living in the music lifestyle he found
it draining to the creative spirit inside. Taking
on a new challenge of life in 2006 he moves forward
working on his second CD soon to be released.
